2004 PROJECTS

Boy Scout Troop Landscape Badge Project – This project is to be chaired by Sue Windham – the scouts are to participate in laying out some bedding around the new bathrooms at __________park.

Eagle Scout Project – Joe Fernald has an Eagle Scout project for one of his troop – he would like our participation by donating some of our potted trees from the rec. department.

Potting Day – for future trees – will be scheduled when the trees become available – Jimminette will let us know when.  We need everyone’s help with the potting!

School of the Arts – has asked for our assistance in labeling trees to be planted on the campus grounds under a grant they have received. Jimminette will contact Jennifer Jackson for further details.  Cathy Ivy and Shirley offered assistance.

Pass-Along Plant Sale – Homer suggests we plan to have our own Gardener booth at the Spring Extravaganza.  Each of us should plan to bring a dozen potted plants for sale.  Please be planning now, and start potting up what you have lots of to sell/share/pass-along.

Poster Board Display – Jane Kees volunteered to donate a great former Science Project display for our Lincoln County Poster display.  Cheri and Jimminette will revamp our current display to fit it for the Spring Extravaganza.  Becky Corkern volunteered to assist.

Educational Events

Shirley Estes and Edna Bishop both took the Advanced Master Gardener training in the area of Perennials offered by the state’s extension service.

Shirley has an idea for a speaker for the Spring Extravaganza and will get the information to Homer.

Continuing education hours for 2003 - All but one member had plenty of hours to achieve certification for the year.  For 2004, we will each need 20 hours.  Remember all programs you attend can count toward these.  Homer will keep the website updated monthly with any upcoming events.

Closing—

The group presented Shirley Estes with  an engraved silver cup in appreciation of her service as our “Charter” president these last 2 years.  Shirley will continue to serve on her position on the state Master Gardener’s group through her term in September.
